Pollensa information
Puerto Pollensa is located on the North East coast of Mallorca, close to the popular resort of Alcudia.
Most of the tourist developments that have gone on over the last 50 years have tended to be centred around the port area, and more likely it will be there where your accommodation will be situated.
The bay of Pollensa provides home to a multitude of luxury yachts, as well as a mixture of colourful local fishing boats which sadly are now in a minority.
There are a few small natural beaches in the area, as well as the recently extended artificial one, all offering the usual selection of facilities and water sports.
The warm and shallow waters of the bay do make it especially popular for families with small children.
Without a doubt the main feature of the resort is the dramatic Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range that surrounds and shelters the town.
There are many shops and restaurants available , especially during the peak season, although entertainment tends to be in the hotels, with few bars or restaurants providing live music, making it the ideal place for a quiet holiday.
To summarize the reasons to visit Pollensa are to enjoy a relaxing atmosphere in this quaint town, visit some of the excellent restaraunts and laid back bars and try some water sports down at the beach. Do not forget to visit the Pollensa Market and Calvari Church.
