Fuerteventura is one of the Canary Islands, in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa. At 1,660 km² it is the second largest of the Canary Islands, after Tenerife. It was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO on May 26, 2009. Fuerteventura is the longest Island in the archipelago at 98km north to south and the second-largest Canary Island after Tenerife. The island is perhaps most famous for it's beaches, with over 50km of stunning white and golden sand.
